Cheng Man-ch’ing—artist, poet, doctor, and taijiquan master—influenced thousands of people around the world through his work as a taijiquan (t’ai chi ch’uan) master, traditional doctor, and highly respected artist. He was instrumental in helping spread taijiquan to Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States. Cheng (also written Zheng Manqing) was a prolific author, writing almost twenty books on taijiquan, traditional Chinese medicine, poetry, philosophy, and art.

The Cheng Man-ch’ing Biography Project seeks to document the life of this extraordinary man, from his birth in Yongjia (present-day Wenzhou), Zhejiang province, China; his years in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chongqing, and Taibei to his later years in New York City. Cheng was a teacher, creative artist, family man, and friend, who sought to share the gems of Chinese culture with the world.
